Originally all members of Helen's Housewife Association - even Barb, her journalist status making her an invaluable source of gossip to Helen, earning her honorary guest status despite being single... But that bliss did not last for long. Petty squabbles end up blowing everything up into a full out housewife cold war - with Helen's original group on one side, and Sally's on the other.

Thus is created the opposing 'Housewife' Association, with a much looser definition of the term... But really, more of a group of friends borne out of pettiness to support each other. Though they still poke at each other too from time to time... What else are friends for?

When We Were Young

This was stupid. So stupid. Barbara couldn't believe she’d let Bruce convince her to join him at one of his Galas.

“I miss seeing you!” He’d pouted, complete with arms crossed, and puppy dog eyes. Unfortunately for her, Bruce’s puppy dog eyes were very good. And maybe she was just soft for him. He’d always managed to slip through her cracks without even meaning to. Much like his son.

Barbara scowled at her mental self, shoving the thoughts away. She was here for Bruce. And as much as she despised these events, he made them better. He would be worth it.

“Barbara,” A familiar voice purred, and Barbara couldn't help her smile, turning to look up at the man of the hour.

“Bruce.” She returned. He dipped low, grasping her hand delicately in his own, pressing the barest whisper of a kiss to the top.

“You look lovely.” He murmured, and there was a sparkle in his eyes that she had missed. That was maybe the reason she had said yes.

She laughed, dragging her hand from his, and rolled her eyes. It was good. Familiar. Simple. She liked life with Bruce like that. Life was simple with Bruce like that. Despite his… issues, Barbara had never found it hard understanding him. Maybe that was why they got along so well. Maybe that was why they didn't.

“I should make the rounds..” Bruce muttered with a sigh, running a hand through his hair. “Thank you for coming Babs. Truly. If you like, you can sneak out the back during my speech. I won’t mind.” And he wouldn’t. Babs knew that. It was why she smiled, nudging his side with her elbow.

“I’ll be here the whole night Brucie, don’t you worry about that. You’ll be sick of me!” His eyes flashed with gratitude and he stooped low, pressing a kiss to the top of her head.

“Now I face the wolves!” He grinned, offering her a wink. “Wish me luck.”

“Luck-” The word died in her throat as Bruce descended the stairs, arms wide for the people who swarmed him, not yet having noticed the man who stood on the other side of the room, surveying the crowd.

No one had noticed him yet, and he hadn’t yet put his mask on because of it. Eyes tight, shoulders tense, he watched the people swarm his father, black hair styled away from his face in immaculate perfection, the way he hated, a suit pressed tightly around his body, accentuating every curve. Babs tongue turned leaden in her mouth.

Bruce finally noticed the newcomer, and his face lit up with joy, pushing through the crowd to greet him. Even from so far away, Barbara could hear the pure elation in his voice as he yelled “Dick!” so loud she was certain Joker heard it from Arkham.

The cameras and people immediately swarmed forward, and Dick’s mask fell into place, an easy smile crossing his face as people reached him before his father, offering pleasantries and mild conversation. Bruce pushed through the crowd, clapping his son on the back, and for a second Dick’s mask seemed to peel, a centimeter of true, raw happiness emerging as his father wrapped him in a hug, hand moving to tousle his hair into that achingly familiar smile.

Dick joked something Barbara couldn't lip read from so far, and Bruce laughed, wrapping an easy arm around his shoulders. Something heavy and sharp stabbed at Babs insides.

He… Bruce had known Dick was coming. And he hadn't told her. Hadn’t- had practically forced her to come.

Sharp, stinging betrayal prickled at Barbara's eyes, but she blinked them back, swallowing the lump in her throat with her last gulp of champagne. It was stupid to believe he’d have her back against his son. Stupid to think she even compared.

Dick’s eyes traced the crowd, chatting aimlessly with some girl in front of him, eyes darting around as they always did, seeking a friendly face, some pleasant conversation, an exit strategy. He would find none of them with her.

He smiled then, that all consuming smile that seemed to illuminate the entire world before focusing on one person, making them feel like they were the most important person in the whole world. She hadn’t felt it in years.

Babs spun on her wheels and left.

*This isn't bc of the Minecraft movie I just have always had a background obsession with creepers

*All creepers are migratory , traveling in primarily green biomes , rarely being seen in deserts or mountains . They all produce an organic substance inside of their body that mixes with flammable oils naturally created through glands they possess . They shamble about carefully , as jostling too violently can cause an explosive reaction . Unfortunately , they're also very anxious creatures at heart , and when they come across something they perceive as threatening , they begin to twitch and shake nervously .... Leading to a very painful outcome .

*Juvenile creepers grow foliage and fur that resembles bushes and tall grass , often crawling by keeping their head low to the ground to blend in to low and empty plains or barren groves . They're less anxious than their grown alternatives , but have yet to regulate their oil glands yet , causing stronger explosions . Ow . They're hard to come by though , as they make sure to stay very well hidden .

*"Prime" creepers are the adults , being the most commonly found around the world , wandering around for mates or new curiosities to enrich themselves with , often forgetting they get scared easily . These creepers shuffle with their heads held high , the foliage varying greatly between different specimens , as some rely on blending in with vines and bamboo , others marsh roots and bulrushes . They will shed seasonly to adapt their coat as needed . Creepers in this stage of life will seemingly be drawn to warm and living organisms , often being mammals , such as villagers or players . It ends poorly often .

*Elder creepers often resemble piles of leaves , returning to the early habit of crawling around low to the ground to remain hidden . They've developed claws , and a rustling noise with their dried coats to ward of threats , now grasping how easily they can blow their tops . Elder creepers are often rendered blind as well , their own furs covering their eyes and making them rely on sound and scent for detecting threats . Their oil glands have started to dry up as well , and while their explosions are less brutal , their often rotting insides get sent flying , scaring off the possible assailant with the strong stench and goopy texture . They will naturally rot and turn into a great source of compost if you wait long enough !

The Motivational Fight Fic

Some LUFAU crack (but treated seriously) to motivate my good friend @kikker-oma to make the Sky V. Time comic (healthy motivation, not pressure motivation just to make this clear. It would be very hypocritical, and rude of me to do that)

or I stole your idea, cracked and angsted it at the same time, and giving it back because theft is bad.

oh and TW swearing, kinda blood but not really it’s like mentioned once, and like some family fighting

Oh this is also pre LU when all of them come together, so this is only Sky, Four, and Time (I separate them timeline wise in the beginning, before it breaks, then I take some creative liberties. But it is just these three)

BONUS: SPOT THE NEGATIVE COPING STRATEGIES! THERE’S THREE I TRIED TO IMPLY BECAUSE THERE IS ONE EACH OTHER(well not really for Time)

Sky trusted the old man. Out of all his future incarnations, the Hero of Time seemed the wisest. The way his eyes bore a hidden sadness that was warped and shaped into maturity proved his thoughts right. The green on the other’s wings was calming, and the design shown a satisfactory, full life, not a cheerful one. 

His wings, on the other hand, bore a bright red with youth. He wasn’t quite sure why all (if not, most) Skyloftians achieved wings after descending to Hyrule; He had his theories though. Perhaps it was due to the fact Hylia would need to find a hero again, and the flashy color would alert her against the vast world of-

Right. Back to Time. If there was one thing he knew about the color green, it clashed with red. 

“Benched?! Why?” 

Time pinched the bridge of his nose, Sky could sense the telltale signs of exhaustion coursing through his veins, yet he didn’t really care. It wasn’t fair, so why should he feel empathy? “For the last time, Sky,” He lifted his head back up, one of his eyes still half lidded, a trait he noticed form when he first met the man, “You’re not being benched. There’s stuff you don’t know yet, that-“ He hesitated.

“Smith,” the shorter quickly whispered back, giving a faux-apologetic look to the chosen hero.

“That Smith and I do know, and that’s okay, but-“ 

“But I want to come too. I want to know now.” One thing he would never admit is that, ironically, he hated secrets. Not that killing a god and cursing his home was that big of one-it was quite minuscule probably. Most likely. They wouldn’t know. “It’s not fair if you’re gonna leave me out. Plus, you may need me,” the frustration in his body fizzed towards his tongue, “You’re back gives out quite a bit, I can tell.” 

“That was completely uncalled for, especially for an arrogant child like yourself.”

The chosen hero raised his foot to step back, but last minute decided to go forward. He made sure to ignore the resulting fumble, “Arrogant?! As if you would know the difference. You probably can’t tell a pumpkin from a bird.” 

“Guys…” the Smith hastily stepped in between the two, holding his arms out as a barrier, “Let’s not fight.” 

The following, loud, “No!” did not help ease the tension. He took a step back, a sense of being overwhelmed shooting through him and begging to be forgotten. Maybe he should forge new weapon, just in case if another hero came along who didn’t have one. 

“You probably should watch your tongue, you know what happens to children who talk back.” 

The way Time’s wings pulsed when he emphasized the c-word was enough to fuel the Skyloftian’s own fury. It was as if the red in his wings was growing, spreading up his neck and to his face, hardening it with Hylian anger. 

“Bitch, YOU SHOULD WATCH YOUR FACE!” He reached his hands out, the rapid motion making it impossible for even him to see, “I will fucking KILL YOU. I have the GODDESS on my side, beat that!” 

“I’M MARRIED TO A WOMEN WHO COULD SKEWER THE GODDESS AND COOK HER FOR DINNER, YOU’RE NOT SPECIAL.” 

“I NEVER SAID I WAS, STOP ASSUMING THINGS OF ME!” His arms reached out again, grabbing the metal plating on Time’s humerus, gripping it with his fingernails until they bent over, blood pooling on the edges from stress, yet he continued the relentless grip. He tried to push him down, yet the heavy metal kept him balanced on his feet. 

The smith didn’t even try to engage anymore, it was probably fine. He looked over to the cave in the distance, the one that was supposed to lead him and time to the forest. He wondered what was out there. 

Time’s next words were surprisingly… calm? No, that wasn’t the right word. They were sharp, yet quiet, “Let go of me, Sky.” The look on his eyes bore disappointment, the open lid slightly lowering, along with his jaw locking in a neutral expression, “You’re acting out.” 

Sky stared into those eyes (or rather, eye) for a second, attempting to nonverbally induce the challenge, yet the man wouldn’t back down. With a grumble, he forcefully released the grip, slapping his arms down to a resting position. 

His eyes still didn’t look fine, the older  could notice. He looked over to the smith, motioning for him to come, yet he couldn’t just leave him like this. It would be cruel. He deserved a chance at calming down, so when he comes back they could talk.

Digging into his pouch, he found some candy, a recipe Malon created herself from some local honey she came across at the market. He hoped a handful would be enough to suffice the boy, “Here, it tastes good, you’ll feel better, I promise.” He gave an awkward smile, then quickly walked off back into the cave.

Sky may have never learned the sword-splitting events that happened in that forest, but he didn’t need to. He was okay now, but his nails hurt.

THE USOS REUNITE WWE SMACKDOWN (OCTOBER 25, 2024)

a little ramble about the first two lines of good morning world! by burnout syndromes because I love it dearly and WILL burst into tears if I think about the lyrics even if I'm in public (if you catch me tearing up on a bus with my headphones on then that's probably why).

now, i'm not the best at english as a subject so this probably won't be a proper, formal analysis but stay with me!!

(essay under the cut as to not clog up dgafer's feeds with my brain dump)

the first two lines in question are, of course, 'おはよう世界 (ohayou sekai), good morning world!'

a couple of things that have stood out to me about these lines after overthinking them:

the meaning/implication of 'good morning world!' itself

and the fact that burnout syndromes have essentially repeated the same statement, but in two languages

first, to preface, one of the major things i love about dr stone is its attitude towards science. i find that typically, in our culture?, science is treated as EMOTIONLESS and OBJECTIVE and FACTS DONT CARE ABOUT YOUR FEELINGS. alpha male 'look im better than you because i KNOW how THINGS WORK and it has nothing to do with womanly FEELINGS' or some shit, but senku's version of science is an expression of the inherent human nature and spirit - it's fun, it's curious, and most importantly, it helps people. science is possibly the most human thing of all. and by extension, dr stone's attitude towards humanity as a whole is that we are inherently kind and will always do our best to help others. which, realistically, might not be necessarily true, but it's something i do like to believe in.

anyway, this statement 'good morning world!' greets the world, treating it like a person, or even a friend. the exclamation mark also indicates enthusiasm and cheerfulness. tbh, it's a phrase i would expect a child to say. which is not a bad thing! in contrast, i think it works to set the hopeful and joyful tone that is present in dr stone. also, there's something to be said about childlike wonder and how children are generally the most openminded. and that they're always asking 'why' and actively learning how the world works by piecing together all their experiences to paint an interpretation of this world and reality that they've been thrown into. and that they do it almost unconsciously, their little mission to figure out how the world works, and in a way all of us are born scientists. and something about how children are, like, the 'purest' form of humans, before they're shaped and pulled around to slot into modern society. the human essence and science are inextricably linked - again, science is so, so human.

'good morning' indicates a start or a beginning, and alludes to the start of senku's journey throughout the story. and, i may be starting to reach, but it feels like a greeting that implies the speaker is looking forward to spending the day with 'the world'. which is the personification and enthusiasm again!

the line also reminds me of how programmers will often, before anything else, print "hello, world!" when learning a new programming language. it's like,,,when a new program spits out 'hello, world!', it's kind of like it's a new life that's introducing itself to the big, wide world??? (like a child, i daresay..??) which i find so cute, that it's standard for programmers to first let their programs say this, when computers themselves are kind of 'known' for their, well, lack of consciousness and their objectivity.

something about how both 'good morning world!' and 'hello, world!' are personifying scientific/'logical'/'objective' things, and how it's such an inherently human thing to do, to attribute human characteristics to inanimate objects. it's like how people will say please and thank you to chatgpt despite it, yk, being a computer. it's like how people will say sorry to furniture after bumping into it, or how they talk about the conditions in which appliances will function, like 'the toaster doesn't like it when the bread is too thick' or 'the car likes to warm up for a bit before driving'. the '[thing] likes/doesnt like [condition]' is lowkey the best way to describe the habits of objects like this. idk about you but 'the car likes to warm up a bit before driving' just feels more effective and almost more understandable? and i want to obey it more? than 'you need to let the engine run for a bit before driving'. it's so ingrained in us to be kind like this, to the point where we are being polite to things that aren't even alive, and to the point where it's easier to act in ways that ensure maximum efficiencies of machines when we think of them as 'liking' or 'disliking' certain conditions.

and the fact that 'good morning world!' is said in two languages gives access to a larger demographic of people. it also shows how this enthusiasm and spirit is not limited by nationality/people groups, but rather is more of a universal thing shared by people across the globe, reaching beyond language barriers, even if the sentiment is something that requires language to be expressed. also, i'm assuming that english is not burnout syndromes' usual choice of language, so making a point to also say this in english shows their own desire to express this to the world. it also highlights the importance of this phrase, which to me is what i've said above.

in conclusion: i think good morning world! is a PERFECT opening ost for dr stone, even judging by the first two lines ALONE. it captures the one of its central themes SO WELL and yes i did tear up a few times typing this.
